TURKISH business people have been encouraged to invest in numerous opportunities available in the country.
Speaking in Ankara recently, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr Bernard Membe, told Turkish business people that Tanzania has many investment opportunities that have not been utilised properly.
"This is the time for the Turkish business men and women to come and invest in Tanzania," he said. He said some areas that will be of great benefit to invest includes air transport and urged Turkish Airlines to explore the possibility of partnerships with Air Tanzania Corporation Limited.
Mr Membe assured Turkish investors who will have commitment to invest in the country, that the government through its Special Zone of Export Processing Zone Authority (EPZA), will provide special areas so that investors can be able to build production plants.
He stressed on the significance of investing in textile, fertiliser, gas, agricultural tools, irrigation infrastructure, including drip irrigation and industries processing agricultural products, meat and milk.
"If those sectors will be subjected to work properly then economic growth will go hand in hand with the welfare of ordinary people's lives, because those sectors will increase employment opportunities to thousands of youth," said Mr Membe.
He went on to explain that Tanzania government will fulfil its promise of opening embassy in Turkey in this financial year 2014/15 , to keep on enhancing and strengthening the cooperation between the two countries.
The Turkey leaders assured Mr Membe that they will encourage Turkish business men to come an invest in Tanzania.
"For us it is a simple task and I am sure that our people will respond positively because Tanzania has political stability which is an important criterion in investment apart from its enormous investment opportunities," said Turkey Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ahmet Dovutoglu.
Mr Membe also thanked the government of Turkey for accepting ten Tanzanian players to set a training camp while preparing themselves for the Commonwealth Games which will be held in Scotland in July, this year.
He also thanked Turkey's Ambassador to Tanzania and his wife for their efforts to save the lives of people with albinism.
He said their decision to build a village that will be able to take 500 people with albinism for imparting knowledge and other skills of life is a model to be imitated by good Samaritan society.
