Thousands of international travellers and exhibitors from at least 32 countries have turned up for the Kenya International Trade Exhibition (KITE), which was officially opened today by TNA Chairman Johnson Sakaja.
Mr Sakaja, who was representing the government in his capacity as a key member of parliament’s committee on trade, called on the visitors attending the event to take advantage of their opportunity in the country to visit Kenya’s unique tourist attractions, including the nearby Nairobi National Park. “I would like to urge you all, even as you take part in your business and affairs, to take advantage of the great Kenyan hospitality by visiting some of the attraction sites we have around,” said the chairman of TNA, which produced Kenya’s president during the March 4 polls.
“This is one of the only cities in the world where less than 10 kilometres from the capital city you have a national park where you will find animals in their natural and unspoilt habitat, including the big five,” Sakaja added. A group of creative Maasai dancers, the most popular community among international tourists, entertained the visitors with acrobatic moves and welcoming songs, urging them to tour Kenya’s national parks. The three-day annual event is considered to be the greatest international trade exhibition in Africa for multi-sector products, including hospitality.
The exhibition has tremendously grown since its inception 16 years ago, and has become the key networking and sourcing tool across many industries.
