Oman LNG, the Sultanate's main exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), is lending support for Oman's renewable energy drive as sponsors at this year's Gulf Eco exhibition and conference, a forum for sharing green initiatives that preserve the environment.
This year's event, themed - 'Clean Energy for Oman', will highlight the opportunities for harnessing Oman's renewable energy.
Expected to attract over a hundred and fifty (150) attendees including government officials, regulators and executives from the Sultanate and the gulf region , the forum will discuss challenges on climate change, technological solutions, financial and investment related issues as well as policies and regulatory issues.

Oman LNG's plant design lays emphasis on reducing, reusing and recycling of all process materials and includes the installation of low emission burners at its gas turbines and implementation of zero-effluent discharge. The plant's application of Shell Multivariable Optimisation Controllers (SMOC) improves its thermal efficiency and reduces emissions,
Beyond its plant, the company is an advocate of environment preservation initiatives through an extensive social investment programme and was honoured with both the GCC Award for Best Industry Establishment Compliant with Environmental Regulations and the Excellence in Energy/GASTECH Award for Best Company in Environment in 2009.
The company is a limited liability incorporated joint venture company established by a Royal Decree in 1994. Its shareholders are the Government of Oman (51%), Royal Dutch Shell (30%), Total S.A. (5.54%), Korea LNG (5%), Partex Oil & Gas (2%), Mitsubishi Corporation (2.77%), Mitsui & Co. (2.77%), and Itochu Corporation (0.92%).
Gulf Eco 2013 is organised by Oman International Trade and Exhibitions (OITE) Trade Fairs, under the patronage of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs. The three-day event holds at the Oman International Exhibition Centre from 20th -22nd January, 2013
