The New York-based cosmetics firm, Make-up Art Cosmetics (MAC), is poised to set up shop in many parts of sub-Saharan Africa, opening at least 20 shops in the next half a decade, it emerged late on Monday.
MAC wants to pay more attention to emerging markets with exciting economic growth prospects, including Turkey, Brazil and India.
Sub-Saharan Africa is going through the quickest economic advancement internationally than many other regions in the world.
MAC also wants to expand aggressively throughout South Africa, where it has had operations for the past 13 years.
According to BDLive, MAC currently has 24 shops in South Africa’s eight towns.
Karen Buglisi, the global brand president at MAC, told BDLive the firm would increase its operational presence in South Africa in three years’ time.
MAC was established in Toronto, Ontario, Canada by Frank Toskan and Frank Angelo in 1984. The first US MAC shop started in 1991 in New York.
The firm’s manufactured goods were firstly made for specialist make-up- artists. However, they are now being sold to customers throughout the world.
MAC cosmetics creators have been directing their product line to those who work in the beauty and fashion sectors who had to depend on heavy cosmetics.
