An exhibition of Indian technology and products aimed at boosting India-Tanzania bilateral trade and investment will commence Wednesday in the Tanzanian capital Dar-es-Salaam.
"The India Show" Sep 25-27, with the theme of "Enhancing Growth, Nurturing Partnerships", is a joint initiative of the Indian commerce ministry, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and India Brand Equity Foundation, CII said here in a statement.
Minister of State for Commerce D. Purandeswari will inaugurate the event.
The CII has put together a group of around 400 people to visit Tanzania and explore opportunities in East Africa in what it described as India's largest such show so far in the continent.
"The show will create awareness and explore business opportunities available for both countries, and open windows to the larger markets of the East African community," CII said.
"The Tanzanian market has to be sensitized as it has huge potential and Indian exporters should take advantage of the country, particularly when Tanzania, being a member of the East African Community (EAC), enjoys custom tariff and trade preferential agreements," said Chandrajit Banerjee, director general, CII.
The show features more than 100 Indian companies including Amul, Airtel, Escorts, Godrej & Boyce, Kirloskar Brothers, L & T, Mahindra & Mahindra, MMTC, Fiat India, Power Grid Corp, Spices Board of India and TATA, said CII.
India's trade with Tanzania has been growing and its volume crossed the billion-dollar-mark in 2010. Bilateral trade in 2012 was worth nearly $1.4 billion.
The 8th session of the India-Tanzania Joint Commission on Economic, Technical and Scientific Cooperation was held July 8-9 in the Tanzanian capital, with Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur leading the Indian delegation.
