Information technology (IT) is a fast-growing industry in the UAE and it may seem that those in this sector are poised for good growth.

According to MyHiringClub.com’s worldwide IT salary 2015, pay for IT professionals in the country is ranked 17th in the global paymaster list with average pay of $84,329 (Dh309,736) per annum.

The salary for these professionals is highest in the GCC. UAE is followed by Bahrain ranked 19th with average pay of $83,219 (Dh305,659), Kuwait at 20th slot with pay of $81,340 (Dh298,757). Qatar follows closely at number 21 with a pay of $76,320 (Dh280,319) and Saudi Arabia ranked 23rd with pay of $73,720 (Dh270,769).

Comparing the salary levels of the same kind of employees across 40 different countries, the survey states that a mid-level IT manager is the best paid in in Switzerland. Here s/he gets an average annual remuneration of $1,71,465 (Dh629,782). The same job if taken in Belgium, second on the list, would pay $1,52,430 (Dh559,867), the survey said.

Denmark is the third best paying country with an average salary of $1,38,920 (Dh510,246). The US and the UK are ranked fourth and fifth, with average pay packages of $1,32,877 (Dh488,050) and $1,29,324 (Dh475,000), respectively.

Australia tops highest paid IT professionals in Asia Pacific, followed by Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Republic of Korea in fifth place.

Lowest on the list of the worst paid are employees in Bulgaria with a meagre pay of $25,680 (Dh94,321), followed by Vietnam and Thailand averaging at $30,938 (Dh113,633) and $34,423 (Dh126,433), respectively.

Indonesia comes on the fourth spot of worst pay with average wages of $34,780 (Dh127,745), followed by the Philippines ($37,534 or Dh137,860.), India ($41,213 or Dh151,373), China ($42,689 or Dh156,794), Czech Republic ($43,219 or Dh158,741), and Argentina ($51,380 or Dh188,716).

The survey compared the total annual cash compensation and total remuneration information of the mid-career level for IT staff at 9,413 companies across 40 different countries between August 1 to August 31, 2015.

“The year 2015 is likely to turn out to be a reasonably good period for IT professionals. The average salary ranges for professionals are up by 10 per cent – 15 per cent for 2015 as compared to the 2014 figures. The impact of outsourcing and off-shoring on IT roles in North America and Western Europe helps explain the pattern of global pay. Lower-level roles are being moved to regions where talent is cheaper. The jobs that remain in Western Europe and the United States may be fewer in number but are more demanding and complex roles,” said Rajesh Kumar, CEO, MyHiringClub.com & JobPortal.co.in.
